H.I.S. Students and Alumni in Action:We love to hear from our former students and alumni! Here are some stories of where we've gone and what we've done after H.I.S.: |

In brief, I graduated from Skidmore with a BA in
government in August of '06. I moved out to Seattle the following February
and took a position with a small company called Seattle Biodiesel. I worked
in production for most of the spring and summer, making and distributing
biodiesel. In the fall I started working with our R&D team.
This is where things start to get interesting: My employer (now Imperium Renewables) launched a program to produce jet fuel from coconut oil-based biodiesel. I was intimately involved with this program, the fruits of which were recognized only a few weeks ago: A Virgin Atlantic Airlines 747 made a test flight from London to Amsterdam using our BioJet fuel! This was the first time that an unmodified jet airplane has flown on a bio-based fuel! I'm currently working in quality control at Imperium Grays Harbor, the largest biodiesel plant in the United States. I don't have a whole lot of free time, but when I do I like to get out and explore the Pacific Northwest in my biodiesel-powered Mercedes. I hope that all is well back in the northeast, and that the Independent School is continuing to thrive. I miss being involved in such a tight-knit and like-minded community. Regards, |
